PDFuse Privacy Policy

The short answer
PDFuse merges, splits, and reorganizes PDFs locally, requests no permissions, makes no network requests, and collects nothing.
PDFuse merges, splits and reorganizes PDF files — entirely on your own machine. Local-first is the whole product, not an afterthought.
What we collect
Nothing. PDFuse has zero telemetry and makes no network requests at all: no analytics, no usage data, no crash reports, no account. It collects nothing about the files you open or the pages you view. This is enforced in the build, not just promised — a red-line check fails the release if any outbound-network or remote-code pattern appears in the shipped code, and an end-to-end test asserts that no surface makes an outbound request.
What PDFuse stores, and where
PDFuse stores a few small preferences locally in your browser (localStorage, in the extension's own origin). None of it is ever synced across devices or transmitted anywhere:
- Your language choice (if you pick one instead of following the browser), under the key
pdfuse.locale.v1. - Your preferences — default tool, theme, and the auto-download toggle.
- A local error log (
pdfuse.errlog.v1, capped at 50 recent entries) to help you report a problem. It holds only an error name, a short message, and one stack line — never file contents — and it never leaves your device. You choose whether to copy it into the website's feedback form.
The PDF files you merge, split or organize are processed in memory and are never stored, uploaded, or transmitted. Output files are saved only when you click download, straight to your own downloads folder.
Permissions and why they are requested
PDFuse installs with no permissions at all — no host access, no content scripts, and not even the storage permission. It reads no web page and can touch no site. It works only on the files you hand it explicitly, inside its own extension pages.
Remote code
PDFuse contains no remotely-hosted code. All executable logic ships inside the extension package; there is no eval, no external script, and no remote configuration. The PDF files you give it are treated as data, never as code.
Feedback you send us
The extension itself sends nothing. If you want to reach us, feedback is handled on the product website; the extension does not contain a reporting form and transmits no diagnostics on its own.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes materially, we update the Last updated date above and revise the extension's listing on the stores where it's published. Continued use after an update means the revised policy applies.
