Privacy Policy — PDF to Image (PDFoto)
Last updated 2026-07-11
The short answer
PDFoto processes PDFs and images entirely on your device, requests no browser permissions, makes no network requests, and collects no data.
PDFoto is a free tool that converts PDFs to images and images to PDF entirely on your own device. ## What we collect
Nothing. No analytics, no telemetry, no account, no crash reporting. PDFoto sends no data of any kind to us or to any third party. It makes no network requests at all — it works fully offline.
What it stores, and where
Your PDFs and images are read into memory, converted, and offered back to you as a download. They are never uploaded, and never written to long-term storage — closing the tab discards them.
PDFoto remembers only two small preferences, in your browser page's own localStorage (a same-origin store that needs no permission):
- your chosen interface language, and
- your last-used conversion options (direction, output format, clarity, page size, margin).
If a screen hits an unexpected error, a short local error log (last 50 entries: time, screen, error name and the first stack line — never file contents) is kept in the same localStorage to help you troubleshoot. None of this leaves your browser. Nothing is synced across devices.
Permissions and why
PDFoto requests no permissions of any kind — its manifest permissions and host_permissions are both empty, and it declares no optional permissions and no content scripts. It has no activeTab, no tabs, no scripting, and no storage permission. PDFoto cannot read, modify, or access any web page you visit — it has no technical means to do so. It only ever sees the files you hand it directly, inside its own pages.
Remote code
PDFoto contains no remote code, no eval, and no external scripts. All code, fonts, and assets are bundled in the extension package and pinned to the extension's own origin by its Content Security Policy. The PDF rendering (pdf.js) runs in a bundled Web Worker loaded from the extension itself; the PDF assembly (pdf-lib) runs in the page.
Feedback you send us
PDFoto itself submits nothing. If you choose to send feedback, that happens on our website, on your initiative; the extension does not transmit any report or diagnostic data. The links from the extension to our site (the "Help" and "Feedback" links, and the "From the same maker" card) are ordinary navigation you must click — opening them loads a page in a new tab and carries only campaign attribution parameters (UTM); the extension makes no request itself.
